Over ons
Wij zitten dus in Zuid-Afrika voor 8 maanden! Niet geheel voor de lol alleen, er wordt ook keihard gewerkt! Annet doet vanaf 20 oktober vrijwilligerswerk voor ‘Helpkids’, een onderdeel van stichting Cape Town Child Welfare. Ze gaat als maatschappelijk werker aan het werk met kinderen in de townships (sloppenwijken) van Kaapstad. Veel kinderen in de townships zijn sexueel misbruikt, mishandeld, verwaarloosd en hebben in hun dagelijks leven te kampen met HIV en AIDS. Er is dan ook veel voor nodig om deze kinderen zo te helpen en te begeleiden, zodat ze toch een zinvol bestaan kunnen opbouwen. Ewout daarentegen is dankzij zijn werk op internet (meestal) niet gebonden aan een fysieke locatie, dus gaat hij vanuit Kaapstad gewoon door met zijn dagelijkse werkzaamheden. Gelukkig hebben we een leuk huis met zwembad in de tuin dus hij kan zijn werk prima doen bij het zwembad!
